Material Options
Carbon Steel (ASTM A36 / GB Q235)
The standard material for heavy duty steel grating across the vast majority of applications. High strength, economical, and compatible with all surface treatment options. Default choice for loading docks, industrial floors, highway drainage, and bridge decking.
Galvanized Carbon Steel
Hot-dip galvanized carbon steel heavy duty grating is the dominant specification for outdoor and corrosive-environment applications. The zinc coating provides sacrificial corrosion protection with an expected service life of 40–50+ years in industrial environments and 20–30 years in coastal/marine exposure.
Stainless Steel (304 / 316)
Specified for environments where carbon steel — even when galvanized — cannot provide adequate corrosion resistance. Food processing, chemical splash zones, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and marine deck applications are the primary drivers for stainless heavy duty steel grating. Type 316 is required where chloride exposure (seawater, de-icing salts) is present.
